Frequently asked Questions

1.  How long can I expect my prints to last?

Fuji has conducted several tests with independent labs on Crystal Archive Paper and have found that under the worst conditions (exposed to air, exposed to bright light for 12 hours a day) and found that prints could last for 60 years without any noticeable fading. Under the best conditions (framed under glass, shielded from direct Sunlight) the labs believe prints could last up to 200 years without noticeable fading.

2.  Do you sell prints bigger than 8x10?

Certainly! We can provide prints up to 24x36.

3. Why don't you list prices for prints bigger than 8x10?

Cost. Simple as that. We believe that everyone should be able to afford fine quality photographic art. It is much, much less expensive to sell prints up to 8x10 than it is to sell prints any larger. There is quite a premium charged by most labs for 11x14, 12x18, 20x30, 24x36. We are forced to pass those premium prices along to the consumer. Just drop us an e-mail and we will gladly quote you a price on any size up to 24x36. Understand that some images may not have the ability to be printed larger than 11x14 due to image resolution.

4. I want the prints on my wall to be huge, not some little 8x10.

Great! Why? The larger the print, the bigger the wall needs to be. If you mount an 8x10 in a 11x14 frame, it will be a pretty good size print to hang on any wall in your house or office. Don't forget that most prints look best matted with at least a three inch border. It helps pop the print out from it's surroundings, whether that be a different paint color, a wall clock, or other prints.

5. How do I know that what I see on my monitor, will be what I see on my wall?

With the wide variance of monitors and the different ways they display images, it is very hard to predict. Color balance, along with brightness and contrast can vary wildly from one monitor to the next. If this is a concern for you, then we would suggest that you attempt to view an image you are considering purchasing on multiple monitors. You can also purchase a proof print for only $5.00 with shipping/handling/tax included.

6. I don't trust my monitor, is there any way I can see what my print will look like before I lay down a bunch of cash?

Certainly! We provide 4x6 print proofs at only $5.00 with shipping/handling/tax included. We will ship it promptly via Priority Mail. These prints are printed at the same lab, on the same paper and should be identical to 8x10 prints of the same image.

7. What is the best way to display these images?

We recommend they are mounted, matted, and framed under glass. One of the most damaging things that can be done to a photograph is exposure to direct Sunlight. Remember that photographic paper was at one time, exposed to light to create the image on the paper. The paper was sensitive to light. Through a chemical process, the paper is changed to no longer be sensitive to light, but it can still be damaged by direct Sunlight (fading, color shift, etc.).

8. If it is so important to mount, matt, and frame under glass, then why don't you offer prints for sale already framed?

Again, we go back to cost. We are certainly willing to do so, but the shipping, and packaging cost is quite expensive. We are trying to offer affordable fine art photographic prints to everyone. We believe everyone should be able to afford fine art displayed on your walls. That is where our focus is at this point. Just e-mail us for a quote!

Fuji Crystal Archive Paper Technical Characteristics

1. Outstanding color stability
Thanks to advanced dye technology, Fujicolor Crystal Archive Paper demonstrates exceptional resistance both to color fading and staining, whether stored under illumination or in darkness.

2. Pure whites, clean highlights
The markedly improved white base used in Fujicolor Crystal Archive Paper delivers superb white chromaticity. Pure whites and bright, clean highlights create a dramatic sense of clarity and dimensionality.

3. Brilliant color reproduction
Fujicolor Crystal Archive Paper utilizes Fujifilm's proprietary Advanced V-Coupler technology to offer outstanding reproduction of the entire color spectrum. Especially notable are the new papers' profound reds, clear yellows, and beautiful skin tones.

4. Excellent reciprocity characteristics
Due to its wide exposure latitude, Fujicolor Crystal Archive Paper boasts highly uniform sensitivity and gradation, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.

5. Advanced V-Coupler (AVC) technology
The color dyes used in Fujicolor Crystal Archive Paper employ specially developed coupler molecules structurally designed for maximum dye stability. Combined with Fujifilm's own color image stabilizing technology, the result is print longevity that sets a new standard for RA-4 compatible materials.

6. Advanced High-Performance Base (AHPB) technology
Fujifilm's High-Performance Base technology utilizes high-density, fine, white grains of titanium oxide to minimize halation caused by irregular light reflections on the inner layers of the paper. Fujicolor Crystal Archive Paper further improves on this technology with the addition of a new optical brightener for strikingly improved whiteness.

7. Highlight Tone Control (HTC) technology
Another new composite technology, HTC combines Fujifilm's latest base- reflection control techniques with Advanced Dual-Mode Photoelectron Controlling Crystal (AD-PCC) technology. AD-PCC provides two benefits: more efficient accumulation of photoelectrons on the silver halide crystal surfaces, and precise tailoring of photographic characteristics in both low- and high-density areas. The overall result: highlights of unparalleled clarity.

Okay, OK, so I kinda borrowed the above from Fuji, but hey, it sounds good right? What it basically says is the prints are beautiful. :)
